So Lazy This Morning!

Really didn't wanna get out of bed this morning...gotta look into getting 1 of those sweet setups in which I can do a radio show from home!

Hooray! The feedback from the callers, e-mailers and texters today was just overwhelming....thanks to everyone who participated this morning

With all the crap on the roads last night, I'm assuming a few government workers called in sick with the dreaded 24-hour flu this morning...

Is there some sort of idiot code that I'm unaware of? Like, if the roads are bad, are all idiots required 2 be driving until further notice?

It's pretty bad that I completely forgot what game I put money on last night...knew it was NBA basketball, but just checked now...Go Nuggets

Wonder when the NHL combine is going to hit this kind of coverage here in Canada...Record 628 media members are covering NFL combine in Indy

Bring on...the Slovaks?

Canada v. Slovakia? That wasn't supposed to happen...King Henrik gives up 4 on 14 shots 4 Sweden...Lloydie's boy dropped the ball last night

What a game from Canada! That's the performance everyone has been looking 4....guess Canada was just playing possum the last couple of games

The anticipation for that game was just killing me...it didn't help that the only Olympic event on TV right then was curling....just boring!

Just watching women's bobsled (or bobsleigh)...Canada finishes 1-2! All the rest seem 2 be crashing out...(insert women's driving joke here)

Never thought I'd see a day where someone ruined a movie through twitter, but Reggie Bush did when tweeting about Shutter Island....shut up!

Here's how popular Conan O'Brien is...15 hours since signing up 2 twitter and posting a single tweet, he already has 242,638 followers...wow

Semi-Live U.S./Swiss Blog

Why do I live in a Canadian city that has snow as compared to the other Canadian city which is hosting the Winter Olympics without snow?!?!?

It's almost like the calm before the storm...so much anticipation 4 Canada/Russia tonight...still yet to find someone 100% on Canada winning

I'm listening to John Daly on the Jim Rome show and then go to twitter...and Daly is tweeting about his interview while in the middle of it!

A 0-0 Swiss/U.S. score allows TV people to pump Hiller v. Miller....what is it with media people and their love 4 combined words that rhyme?

From my good buddy, @neily27: "Hiller, Miller, THRILLER!" LOL....I'm assuming we'll hear that at least a few times after the game is done...

The Swiss go from having their hearts ripped 2 having a 2nd chance at life after that blown call...it's all setting up for more U.S. failure

It's on you, Bobby Lou....

Starting tonight, Roberto Luongo will be forever judged on whether he can handle big time pressure situations...all begins with the Germans!

Now, is that really fair? For example, if the Russians were to beat Canada 1-0 tomorrow night, would he still hear it for letting in 1 goal?

I guess it depends on whether it was a bad one or not, but you can see where I'm going with that...there's a reason it's called a team sport

Much like a lot of you, I have my doubts on whether he can actually rise up to such a momentous occassion...he hasn't done it in the NHL yet

But he has the natural ability to steal a game when it counts most and he certainly has the best team in front of him to make him look good!

Think it's gonna be a score similar to what we saw in the Norway game, but most people are being very cautious with their predictions... :-)

Oh boy! That's not good...

I usually rag on newspaper headlines, but I thought that the simple headline of "Uh-oh" on the front page of the Sun today was pretty funny!

Haven't heard this too much today, so maybe I'm on an island when it comes to this, but I just thought the Americans wanted that win more...

I wonder if we'll see some experimenting with the line combos by Babcock...could we see the end of the Sharks line or the Getzlaf/Perry duo?

I think there's been a little-overcoaching by Mike Babcock, but I also think a lot of coaches in this tourney have been caught doing that...

As far as the goaltending goes, despite the history and success of Martin Brodeur, the Canadians have to live and die with Roberto Luongo...

Someone argued that Marty has been "ok", but with huge pressure to win gold, team Canada cannot afford 2 start someone who's playing been ok

It's been a while....

My apologies for not blogging as much lately, but I really used this long weekend to just unwind and recharge the batteries...feels great...

Some people might be looking for my thoughts on the "Winter Games", but with all the regulations on what you can/can't say...I'd rather not!

I'm sure I can make comments, but considering there are pages and pages of regulations for non-rights holders, I'll stick to being paranoid!

I've been catching myself watching way more of the sports than trying to avoid them...can certainly do without figure skating or curling....

Speaking of curling, what is with those pants that Norway is wearing this afternoon? The 70's called, they want their pattern back....yikes!

Just realized that it took 6 lines before I even mentioned the hockey getting started, but in my mind, the tourney doesn't start 'til Sunday

Sens REAL busy today!

The Sens organization and I have at least one thing in common...we both like to get a bunch of things done all at once...very busy day today

Giving Bryan Murray a 1-year extension today stops any media from questioning his immediate future with the Sens...hate when that happens...

Love the trade for Matt Cullen....He brings playoff experience and a Stanley Cup ring into the room and ability to do all things pretty well

Alex Picard's time was simply up...never made the crucial step from being full of potential to full of production...good luck with the Canes

Too bad for Cheechoo getting waived...clearly worked hard, but just didn't produce...still amazing he's fallen so hard from a 56 goal season

Now the key is 2 pick up a couple of defensemen between now and March 3rd...there's no way they're successful with the D-Corps they have now

Big News for the Show!

Can't give details, but Lee and I had a great meeting with a business partner that's climbing on board with the show...looking forward to it

Sorry for being vague, but we'll let everyone know about the details in a couple of weeks or so....but plenty of prizes for the listeners...

It's always a good day when you've managed to have a couple of Coronas with lunch....Coronas make me look so forward to summer and patios...

With about 100 mm's of rain set to take over the weekend in Vancouver...still wondering why they planned the Games for the middle of February?

I still can't believe that it's all starting tomorrow...just seems like yesterday that they were talking about just being awarded the games!

Love to see live NASCAR racing at 3 on a Thursday afternoon...just too bad that the Daytona 500 race is on Valentine's Day...hooray for PVR!

What a crazy dream! I wish it was real!

Most of the time, I dream about naked...ugghh...Rosalie..., but last night was a sports-related dream and I actually remembered for a change

It was because of the Simpsons episode where Lisa starts helping Homer pick winners on Sundays and they talk about Buf/Was in the Super Bowl

I dreamt that the Buffalo Bills actually won the Super Bowl...even though I was an adult, I was so excited that I was jumping up and down...

I couldn't even tell you who they were playing, how they won or any of the Bills players on the field, but it was such an amazing feeling...

40 years of suffering gone, full redemption for getting there four times in a row, no more nightmares about the Dallas Cowboys or wide right

And then...BEEEEEEP! BEEEEEEP! BEEEEEEP! NOOOOOOOO! It's 6:30 in the morning, it's still dark and cold and the Bills still have Chan Gailey!

Gainey Steps Down...Still Doesn't Solve Goaltending Problem

Not too often that I can do all my research and still have time to blog in the morning...I'm feelin it! Better save some energy for the show

When it comes 2 the Habs shakeup, I still wonder whether the goaltending controversy between Price/Halak was part of why Gainey stepped down

It's no secret that Gainey loved Carey Price from the get-go, but it's also no secret that Jaroslav Halak has outplayed him the last 2 years

They have to trade one of them by March 3...just can't have a franchise, a fan-base and a locker room divided on who's your starting goalie!

Just on numbers, the Habs would want to keep Halak, but his better numbers give him much better value....Carey Price's value is 0 right now!

I would trade Price...Halak has proved that he deserves the spot...you just hope that Price doesn't come back to bite you with his next team

Super Bowl Thoughts

Like one million others with possession of/access to a computer combined with access to the internet...I'll express some Super Bowl thoughts

Too bad coaches aren't eligible 4 the MVP...as much as Drew Brees did, Sean Payton's guts to take sick risks in that game was the difference

Such a touching moment during post-game last night....MVP Drew Brees taking in the moment and sobbing on the field while holding his newborn

Peyton haters are loving it today...I understand people's getting frustrated with his exposure, but some criticism I've heard is ridiculous!

Add Tracy Porter 2 the list who are set for life by making a big play in the Super Bowl...recent entrants include Dexter Jackson/Larry Brown

Having been on Bourbon St. on a random Saturday night in May and seeing how crazy that was, I can only imagine what it was like last night!

Your Headline Suggestions

It's one of those days where I'm going to go away from the "twitter" format, but I was so floored by all the suggestions that came flooding in about what to put as a newspaper headline if the Sens won 11 in a row tonight...

For those late to the game or didn't hear the show today, I predicted that if the Sens beat the Sabres to win 10 in a row, the headline on the front page of one of the local papers would have been either "Hang 10!" or "A Perfect 10!". Sure enough, the headline in the Ottawa Sun today...A PERFECT 10!

So, it snowballed to your suggestions for Friday's paper if the Sens win 11 in a row tonight against Vancouver...

So, here are my Top 5 suggestions from you, the Sportscall e-mailers, writing into sportscall@team1200.com

5) 11 for 11 (Baker)

It's all dependent on Alfie having a big game, but this could work...it rhymes (even though they're using the same word to rhyme)

4) Kovaleven (Pat)

Like I said on the air, I don't know why this resonates with me so much, but it's soooo cheezy that I could see a headline writer put this in if Kovalev had a hat trick...

3) Sens A Revvin at 11 (Nick)

Nice and short, it rhymes, "rev" is a pretty cheezy word and it can sell papers! I LIKE IT!

2) Sens in Heaven with Eleven (Various E-Mailers)

Started with the suggestion from Roger and morphed from there...I ended it with Sue's e-mail suggestion...the only issue is that it's a little long for my liking...

1) O-Sens Eleven (Various E-Mailers)

Started with a phone-in suggestion from Gary and evolved from there...this is my absolute favourite! Full of cheese, nice and short and even references a recent movie...brilliant!

Nothing Like Skating on the Canal

Went on a skate date with Rosalie last night as we skated on the Canal from 8:30-10:00....just so pretty...I have to skate there more often!

Considering the wacky weather we've had this winter, give full credit to the NCC for having the canal in pretty good shape for a 3km stretch

Before skating, hanging with Rosalie at the bar...the RDS feed of the Pro Bowl was on...ate while watching Sudsy break down a non-game...LOL

The Pro Bowl got a 7.9 rating in the U.S.? Just another example of how much Americans love football...how can you watch that joke of a game?

Not too often that you talk about the Leafs on Ottawa sports radio for two hours, but the moves they made yesterday were that significant...

I'm a big fan of the moves by the Leafs and I'm puzzled by the Flames and the Ducks...did that really address an offensive need for Calgary?
