Just read a story from a british news service and our city was mentioned as one that was battered the most by the storm...of course, the meterologists told us that we would be getting 10-15 centimetres because we wouldn't be getting the worst of it. How do these people keep their jobs?

Commute not too bad
While the winter storm is having a major impact on travel in Ontario, commute times in Ottawa weren't too extreme Wednesday morning.
Fewer cars were on the road, mostly because of school bus cancellations and people choosing to stay home from work.
The City of Ottawa's traffic centre said traffic was moving quite well this morning. However, by mid-afternoon traffic was backed up on the westbound Queensway.
While there weren't any serious collisions reported this morning, a serious crash on the Queensway sent one woman to hospital Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities are asking motorists to give themselves extra time, drive carefully and leave plenty of stopping room between vehicles.
Although the roads appeared to be good for motorists, some OC Transpo buses got stuck in the snow, causing some delays for passengers. ParaTranspo is also asking that only clients who need to go out contact them for service.
Airport cancellations and delays
While motorists didn't have many problems on the roads, it's a different story at the Ottawa International Airport.
Dozens of flights to Toronto, Halifax, Montreal and the northeastern United States were cancelled Wednesday. The airport is also reporting several delays because of the inclement weather.
At Toronto's Pearson International Airport, 300 of the 1,200 scheduled flights were cancelled Wednesday morning.
