Baseball Overload! Finally a few days off....

Just sitting in a hotel here beside Dolphins Stadium as we decide what we want to do here for the day....we've squeezed in so much baseball over the last couple of days, so it will be good to just hang out for the next few days before our next game in Houston on Monday afternoon....

We woke up early so that we could squeeze in a game at Legends Field, the spring training facility of the Yankees....we saw the Tampa Yankees take on the Daytona Cubs and just the locals told us, everything is catered so that you get as close to the New York experience as you can at a minor league park....The groundscrew danced to YMCA in the sixth and they played New York, New York when the Yanks won....

It was School Day at the game yesterday, so there were a whole bunch of kids at the park and I'm assuming that a bunch of them left the game as Yankees fans...It's funny that even though there thousands of miles apart and with the Devil Rays in town, the Steinbrenners are finding a way of making the Yankees relevant...

All in all, a great park for a spring training facility and a single A team...

Then it was a 4 hour drive to Miami and straight to Dolphins Stadium to see the Marlins/Braves game....I'm calling it now, that is going to be the worst stadium that we see.....what a dump! Where do I begin? Just walking in, you could see that everything is fading and decaying and that they need a new stadium desperately....it's supposed to come in 2012....the seats are orange and teal for the Dolphins, of course....but it's just such an eye-sore....maybe it's my bias of being a Bills fan coming out :-)

The upper deck was closed off because there was so little fans....you had to get a ticket in the lower bowl....12 dollars each and then we could sit basically wherever we wanted....that's what the usher told us anyways.....lol

We decided to sit in the "fish tank" and sit in the centre field stands....one of the traditions is to have a beach ball going in the stands and keep it going until security takes the ball away or the ball ends up on the field....it's almost a game for the fans to try and get as close to the field as possible without putting it over....once the ball is gone, give it a couple of innings and another ball comes out!

There's soooo many options for me today....there's heading to downtown Miami, South Beach, golf courses....there's even a horse racing track just down the street, so I could bet on some ponies today if I wanted....ahhhh, so many options on a sunny 31 degree day (I just peeked at the weather in Ottawa and had to get in a dig)

I was supposed to fly out of Miami on Saturday afternoon to go to Houston, but I've decided that I'm going to follow the boys on the drive, so it looks as though we'll hit Orlando for a night and New Orleans for another night before hitting up Houston on Sunday night....
