In Atlanta all on my own.....

Sitting in my hotel room in Atlanta and I'm all by myself at this point.....Since I planned the trip about six weeks before I left, I had bought a plane ticket from Pittsburgh to Atlanta....so that means that Chris is left to drive by himself to Charlotte to pick up his brother, then he'll drive to Atlanta.....a total of 11 hours, but we'll be three of us again for two weeks at least....now that I think about it, I haven't been by myself since I left Ottawa 18 days ago....that is ridiculous! There's always been someone by my side, but I have a few hours before that's the case....

Severe thunderstorms are in the area and will be hitting within the hour....there's also a tornado warning here.....that's the first time I've ever been in the area of a tornado warning, so I'm feeling a tiny bit uneasy.....it looks like it might be a quiet night in tonight and it looks grim to get the Braves game in tomorrow night as well, so I might lose my money on that....we'll have to cross our fingers, but it doesn't look good...

Yesterday, we forced ourselves to get up early even after a night of closing out the bar because we wanted to do a couple of things in Pittsburgh and watch the Pens/Caps game as well....we ended up going back to Carson St. to try and watch the game....Carson City Saloon was full as we expected, but Fatheads was only a 15 min wait, so we ate there.....talk about getting stuffed....I had two Yuengling pints, a half-pound burger and fries for 16 dollars.....hahaha....all I can say about that game was "How does Varlamov make that save?!?!?!"

I wrote yesterday about how cheap things are in Pittsburgh....I didn't think it could get even cheaper, but at one bar, you could have bought beer for 86 cents during the Pens/Caps game....that's insane! Depending on your tolerance for alcohol, you could have been hammered with only 5 bucks in your hand....

We then walked off our lunch by heading towards Pitt University to check out the two sites of Forbes Field....for those who don't know, Forbes Field was the stadium that the Pirates played in until the mid 70's, but it succumb to damage from a couple of fires and then was demolished, but two parts of the park still stand in the middle of the university, the centre field wall (which show the dimensions of 457 ft and 436 ft.) and home plate, which happens to be on the ground floor of one of the study halls at the university....

After seeing those sites, we went to Mt. Washington to ride the elevator up and down the mountain....the great thing about the elevator is that it's not just something for tourists, it's an element of the public transportation system in Pittsburgh, so people use it to get to and from work as well....

I'll have pics up later on tonight when I get my all of my stuff back from the guys....until then, let's hope I don't get blown away! :-)
