After 19 days on the road, I definitely needed a day where I did nothing.....with the tornado warnings in the area, I really couldn't do much even if I wanted to, so I just sat and watched TV and movies all night.....
I also played a poker tournament online to pass the time....anyone that knows me knows that I love to gamble and the fact is that I haven't gambled since I left...I ended up finishing 17th out of 738....not a bad result, but I made a couple mistkaes towards the end that I'm not happy about 'cause I was in a position to make the final table and get myself a big pay-day....instead, I only got about five times my buy-in....ah well, lots of time for poker and gambling when I get back....
I did get a chance to watch the overtime of Anaheim and Detroit.....until the news jumped in with extensive coverage of the tornado warnings, so they decided to put the game onto the side and the weatherman would give updates on the game from time to time while he would give his weather updates....the screen for the game was soooo small that I couldn't make out anything anyways, but I continued to watch because the weatherman started to try to analyze the game and I figured that this was going to be good.....at one point, he turns to the audience and says, "Let's see what's going on in the game....the score is still tied 3 to 3 and they are in the second overtime....we will continue to update you and will show you any goal or goals that occur...." Definitely not a hockey fan....lol
I was also telling the guys (Chris' brother Greg has joined us on the trip now) about the flight into Atlanta...I was stuck in the row just behind first-class....what a damn tease! Everytime the attendants would come around with drinks and food, I would always get the hope that they would come back to coach with the commoners, but it didn't happen! I also got stuck with a white-knuckle flyer to my right and a person wearing a mask to avoid getting swine flu to my left....the white-knuckle flyer would repeatedly give the sign of the cross.....i'm nowhere near a white-knuckle flyer....I didn't even notice the plane going down to land until the wheels touched 'cause I was too focused on finishing a sudoku....
We're just planning out our day in Atlanta and the weather looks bad for tonight....they have Atlanta in the highest possible risk for thunderstorms, so I'm assuming that I'm going to lose the money on the Atlanta game, but c'est la vie....I'll just have to come back here next summer then to complete the trip if need be.... :-)
