Minute Maid Park is the new No. 1!

So, after we dragged ourselves out of bed and got on the road at 8 a.m. after a night of partying on Bourbon St. and getting in at 4:30 a.m., we still had a 5 hour drive to Houston ahead of us....but at least it was a Sunday morning, so they weren't too many other drivers on the road....If I didn't need to get to this game, I would have slept in until about 1-2 in the afternoon....I haven't had a night of partying like that in my life, so I'm loving that I skipped the flight from Miami to Houston...

We made it in time for the second inning, but we walked around the stadium because it's just soooo impressive....soooo many amenities and so many beautiful sitelines that there's not a bad place to watch the game from....and the thing that seperates it from the other stadiums that we've been to lately is that it has something that makes it stick out....and Minute Maid has it in spades...

Everyone knows about the centre field with the hill in the middle (which I still don't necessarily agree with), but it also has a train with a cart full of oranges near the top of the stadium in the outfield...there's also a flagpole that is in play in centre field as well and the big scoreboard in left field...

So, with Minute Maid as the new number 1, I'll put the other 10 in my order so far:

1) Minute Maid Park
2) Camden Yards
3) PNC Park
4) Citi Field (New Mets Stadium)
5) Fenway Park
6) Yankee Stadium
7) Citizens Bank Park
8) Turner Field
9) Tropicana Field
10) Nationals Park
11) Dolphins Stadium (now named Landshark Stadium....lol)

It was an unbelievably humid day....the temperature was 34 degrees before the humidity, so who knows what it felt like, but the good people at Minute Maid made an awesome decision to close the dome and pump the air conditioning instead....thank the lord! I couldn't imagine how terrible I would have felt having to bake in the sun....my body was already dehydrated from the alcohol....do you know the clammy feeling? That was the first half of my day....

The game itself was not a classic as the Astros pulled away right away and we're up 5-0 after two innings and ended up winning 12-5....I was still soooo exhausted from the drive over that I was falling asleep at the game....Once we checked into the hotel, I immediately went to bed and woke up three hours later....Chris and Greg were also exhausted, so we decided to call it a night last night and not do too much....

We're gonna explore Houston much more today and then it's off to Dallas tomorrow for a couple of days as we start to work our way back north....it doesn't mean that we're getting away from this heat, but I won't complain about the weather since we read about Ottawa having overnight frost in the middle of May..... :-)
